Lane Osborne
Lane Osborne is an experienced educator and vocalist who has been teaching music for over a decade as a private instructor and within public education. After pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Windsor, a Master of Arts from McMaster University, a Bachelor of Education from OISE University of Toronto, Lane was granted admission to the University of Michigan for a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education.
Always striving to be a better musician through the pursuit of higher education, Lane has been the recipient of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) grant for her research on the Motown music empire and her musicianship has received first class standing in the CBC Choral Competition (CBC Radio 2 Le Mondial Chorale) as well as CBC Canada’s Greatest Music Class Challenge.
In her time as an educator, Lane has taught and adjudicated auditions for the Peel District School Board’s Regional Arts Program, conducted for the award-winning Hamilton Children’s Choir and is currently on faculty at the Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute where she teaches vocal music, musical theatre and guitar. As director of the GCVI Chamber Choir, Lane’s ensembles regularly progress to Musicfest Canada Nationals and the Ontario Music Festival Association (OMFA) provincial finals.
Her choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall, Massey Hall, Budweiser Stage, City Winery and at the Harrogate International Youth Festival (HIYF). From Classic Albums Live to BowieCon with Emm Gryner (David Bowie), Lane’s choirs are thrilled to share the stage with some of music’s most impactful artists including Foreigner, Modest Mouse, Everclear, Wilco and Susan Aglukark.
Gerard Gouthro
With more than 25 years in education, Gerard Gouthro finds his joy in helping his students to build their confidence in writing, creating and performing.
Currently, he is a staff member at the Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute where he serves on the school’s Leadership team as the Minor Head of the Arts, teaches classes in Dramatic Arts and Leadership and serves as the staff advisor to the Student Senate Team.
Outside of the school, Gerard invests his time with various theatre groups in both on and off stage roles. He has worked on stages around Ontario and has twice been a cast member in plays chosen as the province’s ‘Most Outstanding Production’ by Theatre Ontario. Most notably, he has been a playwright and director for the Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club for the last 18 seasons. In this position, Gerard works with children and their parents to take an idea from a vision to a full stage show each Spring. This team approach to the creative process is where Gerard shines, earning him the Lis Pieper Award for his tireless efforts in promotion of live theatre.
From 6 to 86, he has had the pleasure of bringing his love for live theatre to people of all ages. His latest adventure in the MADE program is another chance to get inspired by other creatives while sharing his passion and knowledge in a collaborative and supportive environment.
